Volunteer Profile

CrisisLink’s volunteer community mimics the population of our local communities. Volunteers come from all walks of life: business professionals, homemakers, students, teachers, retirees, law enforcement personnel and more They range in age from 21 to 80+, male and female, and have widely varying degrees of experience and training. What these individuals have in common is an overriding desire to help other people and a willingness to give their time and energy to help another human being in his or her darkest hour.

The volunteer community at CrisisLink is vibrant. Many people plan get-togethers with their shift partners. A social planning committee oversees a book club, a running club, a knitting circle, and much more. A professional development committee researches opportunities for professional trainings and makes them available to our volunteer community. A variety of group activities, e.g. happy hours and picnics, are hosted by CrisisLink throughout the year, topped off with an annual volunteer recognition event.

In addition to internal recognition and awards, CrisisLink’s volunteers are recognized by first responders and mental health professionals as outstanding paraprofessional volunteers available to help everyone who calls.

Our volunteers have won many awards including:

CrisisLink volunteers depend on one another. Whether helping a shift partner send emergency services to a caller, supporting one another after a difficult call, or swapping shifts, our volunteers work closely together to help one another and the callers we serve.

We cannot live only for ourselves.

"A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men."
Herman Melville
