Hotline Volunteer Application Process
Volunteers are the cornerstone of CrisisLink. But not everyone can do this type of work. The fit has to be right, both for our organization and for the applicant.
All applicants are carefully screened to be sure that the fit is right. Before you apply, we encourage all applicants to carefully evaluate our organization and this volunteer opportunity, and to read carefully the job description and volunter qualifications, and to assess your willingness and ability to fulfill the commitment.
Once you've decided that becoming a CrisisLink hotline volunteer is for you, the next step is to fill out our on-line application.
We'll review your application and contact you if we have questions, to invite you to an interview, or to notify you that we don't feel that you meet our criteria.
Applicants who have the necessary initial qualifications are invited to interview with CrisisLink. We tailor the training to meet individual needs and use the information gathered in the interview to meet this goal. The interview process includes:
- An introduction to CrisisLink's mission, philosophy, and programs in a group format.
- Applicants are then interviewed individually by trained CrisisLink volunteers who cover the types of calls we receive on the hotline, answer any questions, and share their experiences.
- Each interview is then reviewed by the Hotline Training Team. Our Hotline and Volunteer Manager then contacts each applicant.
Applicants who possess the necessary initial qualifications are invited to training. The 60-hour training is a dynamic process - an intense, interesting, and even fun journey. The bond that holds our volunteer community together begins during training.
