The Commitment
We hope you will volunteer with CrisisLink. Once you’re accepted into a training class, we ask you to make the following commitments:
Commitment to the Training Schedule
Sessions are arranged in a logical progression and all training sessions are mandatory. Attendance and punctuality are crucial during training and serve as indicators of the dependability of each individual when covering assigned hotline shifts. Please review the training schedule and make sure that you will able to attend every session.
Commitment to the Training Process
We ask you to read assigned sections of the training manual in order to more fully participate in small group sessions. The assignments are brief but informative and necessary to learning the skills and procedures required of our volunteers.
We encourage you to participate actively in the training sessions. Your active participation ensures that you will get the most out of it and be ready to join CrisisLink's elite volunteer cadre.
Commitment to Serve Our Communities
CrisisLink volunteers are considered first responders on par with police, paramedics, and firefighters. After training, all volunteers commit to volunteering for a minimum of 150 hours. Of course, many volunteers stay much longer and we hope you will also.
Volunteers fulfill this obligation in one of two formats:
- Six months working two 3-hour shifts per week.
- One year working one 3-hour shift per week.
