Harold "Nelson" Chandler
April 20, 1915 - February 6, 2008
Clark Construction Group, LLC and friends at Human Capital Advisors, LLC celebrate the life of Harold Nelson Chandler, by sponsoring LinkUp & Listen 2008 in his name.
Nelson was born April 20, 1915 in Franklin County, Georgia. He enjoyed a successful career with the military and federal service. In 1940, he married his wife of 66 years, Mary Boretsky who preceded him in death on March 21, 2006. Also in 1940 he re-enlisted in the US Army Air Corp, which became the US Air Force and completed Officer Candidate School. He served as an Air Force Officer in World War II in Egypt, Italy and North Africa where he was assigned to the 98th Bomber Group. He served as XO of the 345th squadron, one of 4 squadrons of the 98th. After 1945, he continued to serve as a USAF reserve officer achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. He worked as an executive with the federal government, primarily at the Pentagon, while he and wife Mary raised their three children in Falls Church, Virginia. In 1964 the Chandlers moved to San Antonio, Texas briefly before retiring in Florida where they lived for 38 years in Ft. Lauderdale and Punta Gorda. In 2005 the Chandlers moved to Austin Texas.
Nelson had a prodigious memory for quoting poetry, was an avid music and history lover, and talented wood carver.
Nelson is survived by his children, Richard Nelson Chandler of Seattle, WA, Carole Anne Chandler of McLean, VA, and Kathleen Chandler Grigson of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Christopher, Ashleigh, Lindsay, Chandler, Natalie, Chloe, and Constance; and five great grandchildren.
By celebrating Harold Nelson Chandler's memory with a Memorial Dedication to CrisisLink, Clark Construction Group, LLC and friends at Human Capital Advisors, LLC are providing greatly needed funds to support CrisisLink’s comprehensive suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention programs, and its information and referral services. This memorial dedication both celebrates the life of Harold Nelson Chandler and helps ensure that CrisisLink is able to continue offering these vital, life saving initiatives for years to come.
